Local high school students can find eligibility criteria and download an application on our homepage: sfbaa.org.

The Dave Davis Memorial Scholarship recognizes a south Florida high school senior who has made an outstanding community service contribution throughout his/her high school career. The winner will receive a minimum of $3,500 to go toward his/her college education.

“The SFBAA scholarships play a vital role in the lives of graduating high school seniors,” said Jeff Ramsden, SFBAA president. “They are the future of our industry and we hope to support them through our scholarships for many years to come.”

Twenty-eight local high school students applied for the SFBAA’s 2015 scholarships. Entries were reviewed and winners were selected by the organization’s scholarship committee.

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., June 1, 2016 - The South Florida Business Aviation Association (SFBAA) raised more than $2,500 at a fundraising event in support of Shaesta Waiz, the first certified civilian female pilot from Afghanistan, and her historic “DreamsSoar” solo flight around the world.

“The SFBAA is proud to support Shaesta,” said Jeff Ramsden, SFBAA president. “She isliterally helping advance the aviation industry on a global scale among the next generation of female science, technology, engineering and mathematics professionals and pilots.”

The SFBAA’s fundraising event was held at Orion Jet Center on May 26, 2016. More than $2,500 was raised through a silent auction that included several sunset flights on a private jet, vacation packages, catering packages, aircraft detailing and sports memorabilia. All proceeds from the event benefitted Dreams Soar.

The Dreams Soar mission is to partner with inspiring female role models at the 31 stops along the route and host outreach events to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and careers in STEM fields.

    About Dreams Soar

Waiz launched Dreams Soar while attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University so she could share her message on the importance of STEM education on a global scale.
