The SFBAA will be hosting its first General Membership Meeting of 2024 on Wednesday, April 17th, in Fort Lauderdale. The meeting will be taking place at the newly remodeled W Aviation FBO at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE), from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
We are excited to present Michael Tougias as our guest speaker. Michael is a New York Times bestselling author of 30 books for adults and 7 for young adults. His book the Finest Hours, a true story of the Coast Guard's greatest rescue, was made into a Disney movie. Michael will be giving a presentation based on his book Above & Beyond: John F. Kennedy and America's Most Dangerous Spy Mission. He will be speaking about The Untold Story of the Cuban Missile Crisis (JFK and the shoot-down of U-2 Pilot Major Rudy Anderson). His presentation contains a dramatic chronicling of the Cuban Missile Crisis with special emphasis given to the heroes of the crisis: the U-2 pilots who flew from Orlando to Cuba to secure the photographic proof that the Soviets were installing nuclear missiles on the island. He'll also be providing the unique insight into JFK's decision making using recently declassified CIA documents and audio transcripts.
