Michael Tougias is best-known for his seven award-winning books examining extraordinary survivosrs and rescuers, is a sought after speaker on leadership and crisis management topics. He will be presenting his "14 Steps to Strategic Decision Making: JFK and the U-2 Pilots During the Cuban Missile Crisis" to us. In this presentation Tougias shares the techniques President Kennedy used to achieve a difficult objective: have the nuclear missiles removed from Cuba without triggering nuclear Armageddon.
President Kennedy secretly audio recorded every meeting conducted during the Cuban Missile Crisis. These transcripts, as well as recently declassified CIA documents, form the basis of this fascinating analysis into successful decision making. Tougias also has spent time with the U-2 pilots who discovered the missiles, and the family of Major Rudolph Anderson who was shot down by a Soviet Surface to Air Missile over Cuba. The Anderson incident and two other obscure near-disasters took the country to the brink of nuclear war. All three events are discussed in this presentation.
